As storm clouds gathered over Kyara, I held tight to my old leather bound notebook and my precious pens as Madt, citizen of that town, ushered me through the maze of buildings within that great fortress. He was bubbling over with excitement, probably in a way that ill suits someone who has just bested the biggest beast yet to grace the lands of Wurm, but bubble he did, and I was at last lead out to a paddock wherein stood the noble beast. She was quiet, submissive a little, perhaps, but although under the awe of Madt, she was neither meek nor anything less than noble. I will let Madt tell the story in his own words ...
"It is 12:22 on the day of Awakening in week 1 of the starfall od Diamonds in the year of 999. About 10 days ago I made one of the most amazing discoveries ever made. I was out roaming the thick woods and forests of the wild lands in the world of Wurm looking for unique creatures that I had heard about from a cloaked mage in a tavern.
The mage spoke of dragons with ferocious fire breathe capable of killing anyone in seconds and giants so tall and strong just a single kick could break any mans spine. I did not fear these unique creatures for I knew I had the power of Magranon's might with me always.
"I first searched in the center of the known world and came across many a spider and angry trolls, but not what I had hope for. I extended my search to the eastern coasts of the wild lands and searched through thick woodlands over looked by huge mountains. Nothing was found but spiders and vermin rats. Disappointed and discouraged i made my way for home, Kyara, to rest and re think my next search. On my way home I heard a rumour of a unclaimed boat down at the docks of Water Works. I hurried down there hoping to claim myself a free cog but alas, it was locked and me being sworn by Magranons laws of priesthood, could not pick the lock. As I looked out to the horizon of the northern seas I wondered if there was still hope. A faint gut feeling deep within me told me that there was more the be found if i headed west. So i did so. I left the docks and headed for west to the abandoned town of Independent Settlers. Once I arrived I realised the feeling gre stronger and was wanting me to go another direction. So i did. Following the trail after a few minutes I felt a sudden feel of excitement that one could not normally contain. I did not know why this was, until i climbed over the hill...
"There, stood in front of me, was the aged red dragon! My heart raced with fear and excitement at once and I was froze where i could not move. I knew i had to be careful where i trod as to not alert the beastly dragon. I stood perfectly still on the hill and sent a messenger pigeon to Kyara to send help. Not long passed until Nubcaek arrived on the scene to inspect the beast. He sent in a kamikaze researcher who was able to tell us its gender and its general health before he was slain by the beast. I then sought the help of Dreammaster for advice and he advised me to use the ancient power of the artifact of Magranon himself, the gold crown of might! I felt honoured to be asked to use such a treasured item. Dreammaster soon arrived on scene with Miggy on horseback to deliver the Crown of Magranon. Pedro went in for the dragon first and got its attention whilst i used the almighty power of the crown to intimidate the dragon to the point where it hung on my every command and fear for my power. I felt a sudden surge of energy and power. I, Madt, had dominated the king of all Uniques. It was indeed, a grand victory for Jenn-Kellon."
A wonderful tale, and had I not travelled the long roads of Wurm to see the beast herself, I would have bought Madt another ale and patted him patronizingly on the back. But real the dragon is; from nose to mighty tail. However, should you ever wish to find for yourself a mighty beast such as this, may an old Bard make a little suggestion? Get a bigger house!
