Todays update included the sound and music that Joss Sanglier of 21stcenturyblues.co.uk has produced specifically for Wurm Online. We are thrilled to finally release these as they add a lot to the immersion of the game.

There is no looping background music. Instead the music scores are set to play fairly seldom in order to enhance certain ingame situations such as founding a settlement, approaching a colossus or visiting a mountain top. In a sense you collect them since some of them only play at certain specific triggers. I believe that many players will get a tear in their eyes from the solemnity this can create.

The sound engine in the Wurm Client detects which terrain a certain area has and plays the proper ambient sound. This means that with surround sound you will hear water behind you, forest birds to your left and mountain birds to your right all at the same time. As you change the terrain from for instance forest to fields or dig out a lake, the sound environment will change as well.

A fair amount of settings exist for these sounds so that you can turn various features on and off and set some sound levels.

Enjoy the new sounds of Wurm!
