King Kong AI deviation detected PDF Print E-mail

King Kong AIToday is a historical moment in the history of Wurm Online. Following the recent breeding and AI updates, it seems that some part of the code produced a bit more intelligence than was expected.

This morning I received an alarming email where a player claimed to be kept hostage by a primate called King Kong. The creature had muted and frozen the player - actions normally only available to Game Moderators.

However, like you have noted the AI system does allow for creatures to select various actions such as for instance graze, breed and select fighting stances. In certain rare cases they may also select other actions depending on their breed. For instance, I recently heard that apparently gorillas have started to kill cows.

This gorilla obviously had chosen the Rename and Set Power actions, resulting in him becoming a High God named King Kong. For some reason he also decided to Mute and Freeze the player in question, effectively taking her hostage. She could only stand and watch as the gorilla "trod around his territory looking for intruders" and "showing off emotes".

I honestly saw no reason to argue with the primate since I didn't understand his gibberish in local chat and it only reacted with hostility to my emote attempts. Unfortunately I accidentally selected Destroy instead of Freeze as I was going to examine it. I don't know when we'll see another one like this. Maybe in a year.
