This is not just a game, it is quite simply an alternative way of life
One Game - Two Lives On Wurm, play is unique. You can elect to play on a Home Server. This is the colonist way of life, a life of building, crafting, developing societies. Wurm Online allows you to not just look at a beautiful world, but to create one! You can dig the land, terraforming to your design - shovel full by shovel full! You can build houses, farm crops and hunt and fish to feed you and your community. Dig deep, spectacular mines to find Iron and Copper, and even Silver and Gold. And you can build villages, protect them with walls and guards against the hungry beasts that roam the forests. Or travel to a Wild Server. Here, life is not so peaceful. You are not alone, and others here may not be of your kingdom and will want what you have! Raid them before they raid you! To help, Ores are of higher quality than on a homes server to enable you to make the highest quality weapons and armour. But not everything is easy here - you may wish to trade with your kingdoms home server for food and other items that you do not have time to make on Wild. Counting the Pennies The world has a real economy with a fixed pool of money and resources, and almost all items in the world are created by other players. Both kingdom traders and Personal Merchants are available to help you buy and sell, and you can also trade one to one. This allows you to save up to build or expand your village, buy items that you are not skilled enough to make yourself, or pay your guards salaries! When the game was first launched, Wurm was a wild frontier, and it was up to the players to build the towns and the roads that connect them, and create the items needed for both everyday use and more exotic practices. Wurm still is that wild frontier. Players have made their mark, but much of the land is untouched, and where people have moved on, the forests and the beasts have soon reclaimed the villages, leaving eerie shadows of former colonisation. Making Your Mark Wurm Online has neither levels nor hitpoints. Instead, you work on your skills, your carpentry, your masonry, your weapon smiting, your fight skill, so that life on Wurm slowly comes under your control rather than you being under it's! Gameplay is from the Dark Ages, down to earth and community-based for most players, with each village being a community of citizens with common goals and ideals. Villages and Towns are sanctuaries protected by computer generated guards - as long as you pay their wages. But the Home servers and Wild Servers have different rules. While on home stealing is illegal and Player versus Player combat banned, on the wild, you defend your own against all comers. If they kill your guards, the can raid your village. Which life will you choose? You can start Wurm Online by clicking the Go To Wum Now button. Wurm is a complicated, wonderful world, where you can live simply or become a true master of your destiny. Use the Wurmpedia to find out how to survive, talk to other players on the ingame chat system or on the forums. Work together to learn and create. What ever you are looking for ...
