beast-bearback-tb.jpgThe adventure of two friends across the oceans to the newly discovered lands of Mol Rehan as told by Beastenator

One day when the daily life in Wurm got a bit dull, Yeti and I decided to go out and see a bit of the world. We travelled to Roadside on Jenn Kellon and started to follow the highway to the west, the direction where the sun sets.  It seemed like the highway didn’t end and we had been following it for hours before we hit a crossroad.

"Where to go now?", Yeti asked.
"To the south," I replied, "I heard there were some interesting ruins there."

And there we went, to the south, to the forgotten lands around Bearback Mountain. It was an odd sight that greeted us; damaged buildings, decayed furniture, crashed down walls and rotten farms. This once so great city had now become nothing more than a couple of ruins. Time is merciless.

We looked around a bit and continued to the South, to Akhenaten, a flourishing village in the Bay of Arfen. We explored the area out of curiosity and after a couple of hours we decided to move on. The only road we could find headed to the west, but it was guarded by a vicious crocodile. Using the roads blessed with the power of Vynora we managed to get away from this monster.

beast-woods-tb.jpgWe travelled on, through the tunnel to Akheket, throughout the deserts filled with trolls and the wolves’ dark woods.

After a while the night started to creep in. We had to seek shelter from the deadly critters wandering in the night. We thought we could reach Axe mountain by late evening but the darkness was creeping through the trees; night had fallen. It felt like we were being watched, many critters were around us, waiting for the right moment to attack. We kept walking through the forests, trying to get away from the hungry beasts. A few minutes later we finally found a sign of civilization; a town. Was it Westport? It was, and as soon as we entered the deed guards came and greeted us. We were safe. Being safe had never felt so good, we could just sit down and wait for the night to pass.

The next day yeti found a nice spot to build a house while we waited for news of the lands rumoured to be discovered across the oceans. We started digging, mining and making bricks. Soon after a house was built, this would become our place to live for a couple of weeks.

beast-westcoast-tb.jpgWhen scientists and craftsmen invented the technology of boats, Yeti and I decided to learn this for ourselves. We started building a small rowing boat. It took a lot of work, lots of trees were felled and hull planks were made. After a couple of days of attaching the boat finally was finished, Yeti decided to name this freshly made rowboat the HMS Endurance. We pushed the boat offshore and started sailing. But it seemed like the scientist hadn’t thought about one thing, their boat was slow, this had to be improved. We worked on it for many hours more. Impressed by the new speed we kept sailing for a while, first along the shore then a bit farther into open sea, until suddenly the old stories about evil sea monsters got in to my mind. We went back to the shore and decided to build a stronger boat; a small sailing boat.

New lands discovered! The news sounded as music in my ears, finally, the explorers found new lands! Yeti wanted to go there immediately, but I suggested we wait a while till our farms were harvested to give us supplies for the journey. After a few days we packed our stuff, trying to sort out what we needed for journey. If wise Yeti hadn’t been there I would now be stuck with a billion of support beams that I probably wouldn’t need anyway. She suggested we leave the litter behind and just sail for the open sea; sail for the unknown lands of Mol Rehan.

beast-wildcoast-tb.jpgIt was both wonderful and a bit scary; we heard there was an island between us and Mol Rehan, an island full of horror and grief. People had no protection from our King there. Outlaws lived together with the others, those known as Black Lighters. Much of the land was draped with a dark fungus; itwas just evil. This island was dark, we were sure.

After a couple of hours of sailing we found out we needed someone to convert us to their kingdom of Mol Rehan; simply because of our cloths we could be killed on the new lands. I wanted to shout out if anyone of Mol Rehan was near us, but Yeti made me stop before I even shouted the first word. She said we shouldn’t make too much noise, the other kingdoms could notice us. And someone had noticed us, but luckily he was one of the righteous people, a so called Game Master. His name was Fission and he converted us. We could go in safety to the newly discovered island now.

beast-arrivemr-tb.jpgAfter a couple of days of sailing we finally reached Mol Rehan, it was very foggy so we couldn’t have a very good look at these lands from the sea; the only thing we saw was something looking like a mountain. We decided to sail a bit more and look for a place to settle. Another day passed before we found a beautiful island, the perfect place for our new life. It had the shape of a giant see turtle, so we named the island Turtlesback and started building a place to live. We had arrived, that adventure was over and the daily ritual of building and surviving could start again. But it wasn’t boring anymore, it became exciting, we could go out and explore the lands nobody had ever seen.

Beastenator has been playing from the very early days of Wurm Online when it was still in Alpha. After a break he came back about a year ago and has been playing constantly ever since.
