Getting Started

Welcome to Wurm

"And if you have just landed on Wurm that means welcome to Golden Valley"

Golden Valley Portal

Before anything else, if you have not registered yet, click here. Then download the client by clicking here.

The Golden Valley server is the place where you can play for free and basically learn the ins and outs of Wurm, which can be a challenge at times. Once you think you are ready, you can upgrade to premium at the Shop and move onto the other servers. These offer much larger maps, more challenging terrain, and the premium status on these servers allows you to progress to much higher skill levels and do things like build ships, stone houses and much more.

And of course on Wild PvP is allowed and you can convert to the Horde of the Summoned.

Getting Help

Getting started guides and help are listed below, but getting help in game is also essential to many players. Some of the free players have been playing longer than others and can be of enormous help. Also some of the experienced players from the lands of Wurm have registered accounts on the server especially to help new players and to tell you more about the main premium servers.

Find out more from the information below. Also, please feel free to ask questions in the Wurm Forums. If you have technical issues, use the Maintenance Buildings section, for more general advice, use the Town Square. And don't forget the Wurmpedia - a wiki of everything Wurm.

A Note About Rules PDF Print E-mail

All games have rules, cricket has really complicated ones, and Soccer's offside rule is unfathomable. Wurm has rules too. They are there for various reasons, but mostly to try and keep the game equal for everyone and to stop one player dominating others either through cheating or bad behaviour, which spoils so many multi-player games. So, make sure you read and understand the rules of Wurm Online, and don't use hacked clients or macros or do things that ruin the game for other players. Read the big nasty rules HERE

Wurm is not a straight forward game, it is not always as straight forward as many other MMOs. Who ever you are, what ever you want from Wurm, you are not going to achieve anything without getting in there and getting the dirt under your nails.

Easy to say if, like some, you have been playing a few years. But when you first start, it is amazingly easy to find yourself completely at a loss as to what to do next and where you are going to do it.

Bring on the Player Assistants!

When you can ask for help from a GM and when you should be helping yourself can be one of the trickier parts of Wurm Online.

So, one of our GMs, Enki, who spends much of his time working on the Golden Valley server has put together this list of common questions with useful answers. Before you try getting hold of a GM, you should read these - they may have the answer you need. If you do need to contact a GM, use the command /dev in your chat window, and fill in the form. They will contact you as soon as they can.

It is worth noting that on the premium servers, you may need to be a little more self reliant - especially on Wild!
