This thread is a NON-BINDING, NON-EXHAUSTIVE, list of rules and their punishments in Wurm. These guidelines are not set in stone and will vary and change without notice and as needed, you are responsible for knowing and abiding by the rules, ignorance is not an excuse. Actual GM sentence and ban length my vary, the GM dealing with the specific case is in charge, his word is law. It doesn't matter if you're premium or free, the punishment is the same. Of special note, certain rules do not apply to wild server, this will be indicated in the post containing the rule. (this is a work in progress) Macroing Definition: Macroing is the use of a program that automatically preforms actions for you, this is a game unbalancing activity and as such is dealt with harshly Punishment First Offense: 30 day account IP ban, character permanently banned. Second Offense: Permanent account ban. Home Server PvP Definition: Home-Server PvP is engaging in hostile combat with an unwilling participant, or raiding another town you are not at war with. Punishment: First Offense: 3 day ban Second Offense: 10 day ban Third Offense: 1 month ban, or permanent. Additional Offenses: Results will vary *note: the actual punishment for home-server PvP will vary greatly depending on the GM Cheating Definition: Cheating is the abuse of any exploit, bug, work around, or method of gaining skill or obtaining items that isn't as it was intended. (macros already covered and excluded) Sniffing the game communication data, trying to hack the server, abusing bugs, or changing the client in any way is not acceptable. Using any tools that directly interacts with the Wurm Online client or with the network communication to enhance gameplay is not acceptable. It's also not acceptable to connect to the Wurm Online game server with anything other than the official client. This includes running macros, running a packet sniffer to intercept the network communication, and making any type of bot or custom client for Wurm Online. Exploits status 1/ "Carrying a finished metal altar is ok as long as its not blessed" . We will be checking this so be carefull you are not carrying a completed altar around as the consequences are severe. 2/ Fountain in cart is allowed. 3/ Tower in cart is allowed. 3/ Bow exploit, is still not allowed. Using a bow as a melee weapon is considered inappropriate use and is to be fixed. 4/ Terraforming / digging close to village/ settlement walls and houses will in some cases cause them to contort. This not supposed to happen. It can be almost impossible in some cases for players to correct this. Use of this to purpously grief any player will be penalized. We are looking for a fix on this so this is a temporary ruling. 5/ Towers built in water will be coinsidered as an exploit. 6/ Undermining towers is considered an exploit. If you see one tell us now and we will fix it. Merchants Wild server specific: The purpose of merchants is to allow for convenient trading between any players at any time. Deviation from this use may result in loss of merchant/goods/money &/or an account ban. The following are some examples of unacceptable merchant use: ~Merchants are not to be placed in such a way that any player cannot have access to it for trade at any time. ~Unreasonable pricing that would stop a player from buying the goods. ~Putting corpses on the merchants. Punishment: The Punishment for cheating will vary massively and depend upon the circumstances, the method involved, and the GM handling the case, up to and including permanent ban from Wurm and loss of skills. *Please note that testing an exploit is not cheating as long as you don't abuse it. It must be reported to a GM as soon as found. Griefing Definition: Griefing is stealing or any constant harassing activity that detracts from the online game experience for another player. Including but not limited to, harassment in chat, destruction of property, buildings, animals, or items, constant and persistent singling out and PKing of another specific player, spawn camping, defamation of character (insulting their race, gender, creed, nationality or sexuality), imprisoning another player or players corpse ("walling them in"). Deliberately Leading any animals to kill guards on anothers deed is illegal, this does not include players running for sanctuary on the odd occasion. Player actions such as chopping trees, continously emoting unfavorable actions, building or terraforming close to a village or settlement without constructive purpose, will be considered harassment. If it can also clearly be established as deliberate intent the player could be penalized without warning. Home trading Home server trading with players is considered a contract, whether it be for money or services. Failure to comply to a contract could be considered theft and will be dealt with as "Griefing" under the game rules. KOS:Is the right of any mayor as they see fit, provided it isnt used by a deed purposly placed to impede players movements,eg; along established roads, or to entrap players invited or enticed onto a deed. Players by definition are not outlaws. Penalties: First case will be a warning, followed by 3 day ban, followed by 7 day ban. Further penalty will result in the player account put before the GM Board for possible permanent account ban. This can alter depending on the severity of the case in question. Wild Server Definition: Griefing on wild is very simple, no spawn camping, defamation of character (insulting their race, gender, creed, nationality or sexuality). punishment: The Punishment for Griefing will vary massively and depend upon the circumstances, the method involved, and the GM handling the case, up to and including permanent ban from Wurm and loss of skills. (ban lengths not specified as they will vary by GM and severity of the griefing involved) Chat Abuse Definition: Chat abuse is breaking of the chat rules outlined at this wiki link http://www.wurmonline.com/wiki/index.php?title=Chat This includes all chat channels and IRC wurm. IRC will be monitored from now on. Irc wurm channel is part of wurmonline and will be monitored under the game chat rules and penalties as listed. Any such penalties will be adjudicated to the players game account. Punishment: Once again, punishment will fit the crime as decided by a GM. Infractions are met with mutes, the length of which is based on the severity of the infraction. Repeated chat infractions will result in a brief ban. Failing to learn from that ban will result in a far longer ban. Home Server Specific Newtown An area of 3 tiles surrounding Newtown is to be kept clear. Currently players are co-operating and we want it to continue that way. Don't build or terraform in that area please. HOTS Towers These are not allowed on home server. The maker could be penalized and the tower will be destroyed. We may consider replacement but dont rely on it. Mines If you get stuck in a gated mine, first thing is to ask the owners to let you out. If its not fully walled, we may bust the gate(we will not replace it) or get you out. Any such appeal lacking validity will result in the player being left to work their own way out of it. GM will not be responsible for rectifying player stupidity, and may penalise players for bogus appeals. We will consider any locked mine not fully walled as an attempt at player entrapment and the owners could be penalised. If you are caught stealing from the mine you get a 7 day ban(first offence), so dont try it , we can check what you carry. Mine owners , no excuse , if you want to secure your mine, wall it off fully and gate lock it. To be really secure use a gate house and also make sure the walls etc are all over ql 20 min. Merchants 1/ Building in an another players merchant that was in place first isnt allowed, unless agreed to by the merchant owner. Access has to be made available to player and merc open to public. 2/ If none of the above, then the building could be removed. 3/ If it can be proven that the placement of the merchant was an act of griefing , then it could be destroyed. Password Security I would suggest to everyone to look at the type of password they are using and where they use it. 1/ Dont use the same password in forums and game. 2/ Dont use similar passwords on vent or other forums. 3/ If unsure of password compromise , change it now. 4/ If someone does entrust you with their password, do not abuse that trust. You wont get away with it just because so-and-so "was silly enough to give me the password" "Please keep you password secure at all times. Never give you password to another or allow anyone other than yourself to use your password. You are solely responsible for the security of your Password. OneTooFree AB is not responsible for any harm that may result to the Account (including but not limited to loss of skills, deletion of the account or loss of inventory) as a result of a lost or shared password and may be unable to restore your character to its original status. A Player account gives personal and individual access to the Wurm Online game. Unauthorised access to another player's account is not accepted as any part of the Wurm Online game or some kind of strategy, but a violation of their private data. Any player who accesses any account without authorisation will have their own account and any subsidiary accounts permanently deleted from the database. This rule applies retrospectively to all accounts." ###################### TBC |
