Wurm is a complicated game that attracts many different kinds of players with different reasons for playing. The Wurm Rules are written to help keep this game running as smoothly as possible, while allowing players the freedom to play the game in a way they would like without spoiling the experience for others. This list of rules is continuously revised to reflect changes in the game and the situations on the various servers. It is your responsibility to ensure that you keep up with any rule changes as they are implemented. The actual length of any imposed penalty as listed below may vary depending on the case. There is no discrimination between premium and free accounts with regards to the rules, but please note that some rules may not apply to the Wild server, and this is indicated within the rule. Wurm Personel Bashing Personel includes all members of OneTooFree AB. Which includes but not limited to all FM / CM / GM / PA / or Developer. Unde no circumstances are you entitled to enter any such activty in game , forums or Irc that is considered Bashing. Bashing is, but not limited to, griefing , slanging , flaming etc. If you have a gripe with something or someone then you are to forum PM a GM or the Head GM with your concerns. If that does not result in a satifactory result you may then take the subject up with Rolf. There will be no airing of such enquiry or dispute in game chat / irc or the forums. This also includes anything dealing with player penalties such as bans etc. Macroing Definition: Macroing is the use of a program that automatically preforms actions for you, this is a game unbalancing activity and as such is dealt with harshly Punishment First Offense: 30 day account IP ban, character permanently banned. Second Offense: Permanent account ban. PVP Pvp is illegal on GV server and Freedom servers. PvP or KvK is illegal on all home servers. Wild Server Starter towns PvP or KvK is illegal on all starter towns. They have the authority to KOS any known player they consider warrants it. Starter towns cannot be used as a pvp base. Most are far removed from any other kingdom or enemy village so that should not be an issue, but they do have the authority to attack and attempt to remove enemy players in local. Cheating Definition: Cheating is the abuse of any exploit / bug listed below, or method of gaining skill or obtaining items that isn't as it was intended. (macros already covered and excluded) Sniffing the game communication data, trying to hack the server, abusing bugs, or changing the client in any way is not acceptable. Using any tools that directly interacts with the Wurm Online client or with the network communication to enhance gameplay is not acceptable. It's also not acceptable to connect to the Wurm Online game server with anything other than the official client. This includes running macros, running a packet sniffer to intercept the network communication, and making any type of bot or custom client for Wurm Online. Exploits 1/ Terraforming / digging close to village/ settlement walls and houses will in some cases cause them to contort. This is not supposed to happen. It can be almost impossible in some cases for players to correct this. Use of this to purpously grief any player will be penalized. We are looking for a fix on this so this is a temporary ruling. Punishment: The Punishment for cheating will vary massively and depend upon the circumstances, the method involved, up to and including permanent ban from Wurm and loss of skills. Griefing Freedom & GV servers Griefing is any constant harassing activity that detracts from the online game experience for another player. Including but not limited to, harassment in chat, defamation of character (insulting their race, gender, creed, nationality or sexuality), imprisoning another player ("walling them in"). Player actions such as continously emoting unfavorable actions, will be considered harassment. Fencing off land does not guarantee ownership. If you don't deed land you have no right to claim that it is yours. Even if it is adjacent to your deeds AoC ( Area of control ). If someone fences off an area close to your deeds AoC, you can destroy it. If someone destroys your fences you can rebuild them, if need be, buy another or larger deed. Note : We suggest for the best security, for any player without a deed, is to apply to an existing village for the right to build their settlement within that villages AoC area. Building anything not on deed or outside of a village AoC could be hazardous. We will only enforce the right of ownership on deeds. Freedom server trading Home server trading with players is considered a contract, whether it be for money or services. There isnt any insurance on tading or contracts, but failure to comply to a contract could be considered theft and will be dealt with as "Griefing" under the game rules. KOS: It's the right of any mayor to kos anyone as they see fit. Missing boats. We will only assist recovery if the situation is the direct result of a bug. All boats are assumed to be locked , moored, and or secured on deed. Therefore any loss will be the owners fault and recovery is their responsibility. Ref: http://wurmonline.com/forum/index.php?topic=7970.0 Penalties: Penalties could be a warning, or a 3-7 day ban, or could result in the player account put before the GM Board for possible permanent account ban. This can alter depending on the severity of the case Wild Server Griefing Definition: Griefing on wild is very simple, no spawn camping, defamation of character (insulting their race, gender, creed, nationality or sexuality). punishment: The Punishment for Griefing will vary, depending upon the circumstances and the method involved up to and including permanent ban from Wurm. Chat Abuse Definition: Chat abuse is breaking of the chat rules outlined below, this includes all chat channels and IRC wurm. Irc wurm channel is part of wurmonline and will be monitored under the game chat rules and penalties as listed. Any such penalties will be adjudicated to the players game account. 1/ Respect the rights of others. You may not harass ( sexually or otherwise), threaten or cause unwanted distress to any member. 2/ Do not use sexually explicit, harmfull, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive language. 3/ Do not discuss controversial topics such as (but not limited to) politics, religion, racism, sexism, or sexual orientation. 4/ Do not talk about drugs, drug usage, or any illegal substances. 5/ Do not talk about illegal activities such as warez, torrents, exploit use or macro's, even jokingly. 6/ English is the primary language for these forums. 7/ Posting of inappropriate links into kingdom chat will not be tollerated. 8/ Do not swear, Use of work arounds are not acceptable. 9/ Do not spam. 10/ Use of caps is frowned upon , and excessive cap use may be penalised. 11/ If you say something that is offensive to a large group of people and are asked to stop, please do so. 12/ Openly insulting, berating, or 'verbally' abusing CMs, GMs, or Devs will result in a mute. 13/ Impersonating a CM / GM is bannable. Note : GM / CM do not have access to or logs of village chat. Any monitoring of that channel is up to the village members. However we expext that such monitoring is in line with the above rules and any cases of abuse will be investigated. Punishment: Infractions will be met with mutes, the length of which is based on the severity of the infraction. In some cases of abuse or repeated abuse that the GM determines warrants it, a player may be banned up to and including a full permanent game ban. Account Security I would suggest to everyone to look at the type of password they are using and where they use it. 1/ Dont use the same password in forums and game. 2/ Dont use similar passwords on vent or other forums. 3/ If unsure of password compromise , change it now. Please keep you password secure at all times. Never give you password to another or allow anyone other than yourself to use your account. You are solely responsible for the security of your account. Players entering any agreement concerning sharing or contracting accounts do so at their own risk. OneTooFree AB is not responsible in any form for any harm or loss that may occur to any parties involved in shared or contracted accounts. OnetooFree AB does not condone such activity, and will not enter into any remedial process for shared or contracted accounts. A Player account gives personal and individual access to the Wurm Online game. Unauthorised access to another player's account is not accepted as any part of the Wurm Online game or some kind of strategy, but a violation of their private data. Any player who accesses any account without authorisation will have their own account and any subsidiary accounts permanently deleted from the database. Lost Passwords In the advent you cannot remember your password, send a forum PM to a GM and they will forward that to the Dev admin for fixing. Game ban SOP. If a case occurs that we have no ruling on we post the details to Rolf on the Dev forum and he determines if its intended or not ? If its intended we post that to the players. If its not intended we determine if its enforceable. If it is we make a rule for it,and post the new ruling in public. If it isnt we wait for a code change to fix it, and it dosnt get written into the rules. We break bans into three types. 1/ Permanent Ban - Permanent account / IP 2/ Character ban - Permanent name / IP ban ( IP Review available ) 3/ Temporary ban - Name / IP ban for specified time. Reminder that all bans are posted on the case thread for the GM board to review. Immediate bans can be issued prior to a review if warranted. Players that have previous IP bans may apply for an IP pardon. We will post the case, or append to their case the pardon application for review. In some cases the Head GM reserves the right to personally review the ban or IP pardon applications, and make suitable changes as necessary. Ban Dodging Ban dodging penalties will now be only applied to permanent bans, or those previously banned players that have not applied for an IP pardon under this ruling. |
