Happy Anniversary Wurmers

Wurm Online turns 3 years the 6th! That’s pretty cool. It would be cooler if we could throw a party but we’ll do that next year instead.

Wurm went “gold” 06-06-06. That’s (almost) the number of the beast fyi and also pretty cool. And a bit scary.

I didn’t have time to code anything really special, apart from Wishing wells. Those would have come anyways, but it’s kind of fitting somehow I guess given that Wurm is a wish come true. It’s also an interesting money sink since they actually may work. The chances are usually miniscule (less than 0.001%) that your wish comes true, but given the right (extremely rare) conditions, this will increase to over 50%. Be careful what you wish for since we don’t know what we’re dealing with here!

What is equally interesting is that I sorted out a positioning bug that’s been around for quite a while and that probably has affected most players. It would misplace items or creatures or make them disappear until next restart. However serious this is I haven’t been able to find the cause until today. So that is very relieving and makes me able to focus on the code needed for the freedom server. Some minor issues could remain but in general everything works better now.

There is no ETA for the freedom server yet, but I will hesitantly mention Monday the 15th. Non-pvp and portal code is needed, the map is to be polished and reviewed and I have to breathe deeply a few times before declaring all systems go.

I also want to congratulate Robin Söderling for making it to the final in french open. I streamed the game in a window from Fox sports this afternoon. He made a really inspiring turnaround against Gonzales. Wins first two sets, then looses two. Down by 4-1 in the last set . Then he scores 5 games in a row:)
